Resources for Reducing Anxiety
Working with a therapist
A therapist can help you to:
- Practice the strategies in these modules and get better at them.
- Find your own strategies that work specifically for your personal life and situation.
- Do a couple sessions of quick anxiety reduction strategies or help with a more serous anxiety issue that affects school and other areas of your life.
- Cope with past traumas that cause you anxiety.
- Work on negative self-talk, thinking patterns, self-doubt, or depression.
- Help you to find joy in your life.
Finding a therapist:
- Cabrillo College Health Services Links to an external site. has therapists that can work with students. It is completely free! You can stop by their offices, call or email to request an appointment.
- Medical insurance often covers mental health care. You can ask your primary care doctor for a referral. You can also call the phone number on the back of your insurance card for information.
- For more referrals and information, you can contact either Health Services or the Accessibility Support Center.
Test accommodations and other support
Some students with anxiety need more time on tests or to take their tests in a separate room.
Cabrillo College Accessibility Support Center (ASC) Links to an external site. can help set up accommodations and services. You can schedule an appointment with the ASC to learn more about options.

There are many courses that can help you to learn skills that will help to reduce anxiety. These courses include:
- HS-10 Personal Health (3 Credits)
- HS-12 Stress Management (3 Credits)
- Nutrition courses
- Kinesiology courses
- Adaptive Physical Education courses
- Workshops and groups offered through student Health Services
