Protests

Overview

Despite threats of deportation, Braceros did protest against their working conditions and treatment by growers. The press release below from the Agricultural Worker's Organizing Committee describes a series of "wildcat" protests by Bracero workers who reached out to the Mexican Consul and refused to work until conditions improved and their rights were recognized.

Questions

  • What are the Mexican farm workers protesting?
  • How do the U.S. Department of Labor and Mexican Consul respond to their protests?
