People's World


People's World Links to an external site. was a socialist publication focused on labor issues in the U.S. and around the world.

The first article, "Cannery 'State of Seige,'" describes unfair treatment by police, violent threats by strikebreakers, the arrest of a Watsonville High School teacher and her students, and Cabrillo College students joining strikers on the picketline.

The second article, "New Unity in Watsonville," describes racism by police, support from Teamsters, and the ways the strike has brought people together.  It encourages readers to attend a solidarity rally at Callaghan Park taking place the next day.
