Filtering Your Results

Since OneSearch retrieves so many articles from various types of sources, you will want to filter your results in the Refine Your Results sidebar.

Filter by Date. Use the up & down arrows to change the date. Or sort the results by Relevance, Date-newest, or Date-oldest.

Filter by Availability. Here are some of the choices:

  • In Person (materials at the Cabrillo library, ILC, CTC, MLC, etc.)
  • Online (this includes eBooks)
  • Scholarly Journals - peer-reviewed sources
  • Web (Open Access)

Continue refining the search to attain a focused list of sources. Assigning limits can narrow a search from thousands of results down to a few. For example, you might experiment with the following:

  • Format, e.g., Articles, Newspapers, Books, Reviews, Maps, etc.
  • Location (in the Library)
  • Subject
  • Language
  • Add keywords to your search! Example: For a topic about "online privacy," you could add the terms "social media" or "laws"
