8.1 What is OneSearch?
What is OneSearch?
OneSearch is a tool that allows you to search many of the Library’s databases, books from the library catalog, and selected free web sources, at the same time.
Why use OneSearch?
OneSearch works well when you want to access a wide variety of sources at once, and is a good tool when starting your research. You will learn how to use the Refine Your Results sidebar to focus your search.
When to Use OneSearch
Using OneSearch is convenient, but like Google, rather overwhelming at first. You will need to sort through, limit, and edit your results to understand what, where, and how relevant your sources are.
Here are the types of materials (formats) you could retrieve in a single search:
- Print Book
- eBook
- Scholarly (Peer-Reviewed) Article
- Newspaper Article
- Magazine Article
- Conference Materials
- Trade Publication
- Book Review
- Primary Source Document
- Report
- Video
- Audio
- Map
