2.1 Digital Footprints

An eye (acting as a surveillance) on a footprint filled with social media icons

This module will introduce you to the ethical concerns associated with digital platforms like Google and Facebook. We will consider how our Web search results may not be what they seem at first glance. We will also take a look at how our data is tracked, what kind of digital footprints we are leaving behind based on our online activity, and the resulting implications for our privacy, our worldviews, and our society.

Content for this module is presented primarily via videos. Over the next few pages, you will watch and reflect upon 3 brief but thought-provoking talks.

For those who learn more effectively through text, please note that all videos have closed captions and are accompanied by a text transcript.
