What is a Student Learning Outcome?
A Student Learning Outcome (SLO) describes the higher-level, measurable
✓ knowledge or understanding
✓ skills
✓ abilities
✓ attitudes or values
that students have attained by the end of any set of college experiences – classes, earning a CTE certificate, completing the General Education program or earning a degree. The stress is on what students can DO with what they have learned, resulting in some sort of product that can be evaluated or assessed. “Higher Level” suggests the synthesis of multiple course objectives in one type of essential activity, project, or task.
