Cabrillo offers courses for transfer-level credit or Career Skills Certificates. These courses offer a range of content from preparing for college and career exploration to career readiness.

Counseling & Guidance Courses

Students can also enroll in academic courses taught by counselors to get information about college success and career exploration, providing career services in a classroom format. Courses below are UC/CSU transferable.

  • CG 51 = Planning for Success (1 unit)
    • Introduces the tools necessary to increase academic and life success, including college expectations, resources, facilities, requirements, and educational planning.
  • CG 54 = Major & Career Exploration (1.5 unit) 
    • Assists students in exploring and evaluating major, career, and employment choices. Students will self-assess values, skills, and personality characteristics to examine how individual, family, social, and cultural perspectives influence major and career choices. Students will learn and apply decision-making processes, practice goal setting, and develop an educational plan to meet their goals.
  • CG 1 & CG 1 FYE = College Success (1.5- 3 units)
    • Integrates personal growth, learning techniques, problem solving, and critical and creative thinking to enhance academic and career success. 

To meet student needs, the above CG courses are often taught in various formats: 16 or 8-week, late start, online, in-person, and hybrid formats. View the current schedule of classes Links to an external site. for the most current course availability.

Internship or Work Experience Classes

  • IWE 99: Internships or Work Experience (1-12 units)

Provides learning experiences for students employed in a job or internship related to their major. Students will complete hours at their approved work site to gain experience, develop workplace competencies, and build their professional network by creating and achieving career-related learning objectives. May be offered in a distance-learning format.
