Cost Implications

Not completing your courses in a timely manner has some real financial costs for you:

• Students lose an estimated average of $1.17 million in lost wages when it takes them 9 years to complete their education. 
• Taxpayers subsidize the cost of community college tuition for California residents.  The $46 per unit that you pay is just a fraction of the actual cost. California residents pay $628 for 12 units, when in actuality, the cost is $3720.  The state of California subsidizes this difference.
• You also incur personal costs when you enroll in classes that you don't complete.  These could include costs of paying tuition and fees, time lost on lifetime salary by extending the time to complete your degree,  books and supplies  that you purchased, etc.
