Your Local Public Library
Libraries and Community
Libraries are community centers designed to provide information and resources to the communities they serve. Libraries provide resources -- such as books, films, and computers -- as well as services -- such as tutors, classes, and programs. Librarians are available to answer questions, find books, and connect patrons to resources in the community. There is no citizenship requirement to access public libraries, and collections and services are free.
Libraries reflect the communities they serve. For example:
- High School Libraries have books for classes and librarians to assist with school assignments.
- Public Libraries have books for children, teens, and adults in the community, as well as resources such as tutors, tech support, clubs, and activities.
- College Libraries have textbooks, study spaces, and research librarians.
Getting familiar with both your local public library and the Cabrillo College library will help you take advantage of the many free services available to you.
