Community Involvement & Political Pressure
Involving community members, creating public awareness about a strike, and gaining political support can help put pressure on employers to reach an agreement. Tactics such as picket lines, public rallies, and press can create more favorable conditions for workers to negotiate. Involving the public can also provide support for striking workers, who are not paid during a strike, and may face a lack of food, childcare, and the loss of their housing.
