Searching: Databases
What is a Database?
A database is an online collection of information. The Library subscribes to dozens of databases that offer free, full-text access to articles and other high-quality sources. Most of these resources are not available free on the Internet. You have to go through the Library website to use them. If you are off campus, you will be asked to log in with your Cabrillo ID and password.
All Databases: OneSearch
OneSearch Links to an external site. searches multiple library databases at the same time.
OneSearch is good if you want to find a wide variety of sources: Not just health research, but sources from all disciplines and formats. Like Google, OneSearch can be overwhelming and requires filtering down your results to find relevant sources.
Health Databases: PubMed
Cabrillo has a number of Health & Science databases. One of the best for health research is PubMed.
PubMed is a free resource from the National Library of Medicine that includes millions of research articles on different aspects of public health.
