Search Tools:  OneSearch & Google Scholar

  • OneSearch Links to an external site. is a tool that searches across the Library databases and book collections at the same time.  OneSearch is convenient, but it can be overwhelming.  Use the filters to focus and limit your results.
  • Google Scholar Links to an external site. is a tool that searches across the web for scholarly resources.  It will return both free full-text articles and articles you have to pay to access.  If you find an article with a paywall, submit a request to Ask A Librarian to get the article for free through the Cabrillo Library.

Assignment

1. From the the library homepage Links to an external site., select  "Search" button on the library homepage to access OneSearch  or  OneSearch all Databases Links to an external site..  From off-campus, you will be asked to login with your Canvas/Cabrillo login.

2. Use the limiters to filter your results.  You may need to experiment with different keywords and keyword combinations.

3.  Copy the citations & permalinks for your sources.

4. Search Google Scholar Links to an external site. for additional sources on your topic.

5.  Copy the citations and links for your sources.
